High School

High School

TED Ankara College Foundation Private High School is one of the most prestigious and foremost educational institutions in Turkey. The high school is proud of its thousands of alumni who have had significant roles in the history, politics and educational fields in Turkey. Our basic aim is to provide an educational atmosphere open to improvements and the use of contemporary teaching methods. In order to enrich this atmosphere, we understand the necessity of being open to many different kinds of scientific and creative studies proposed by our students.
In our school, The Ministry of National Education’s Regulations are applied along with other academic programs to increase our students’ interests and skills and enrich their knowledge. Our school offers three different programs: National, International Baccalaureate, and Academic Science Program. In each program students are required to take compulsory classes, common background studies classes, and elective courses to sum up to 40 hours a week. Maths, Geometry, Physics, Chemistry and Biology classes are English medium classes; the common studies class’ medium is Turkish. Students choose French or German as a second foreign language. Moreover, students are given an opportunity to take the international certificate exams of DELF A2, B1, B2.

Academic Programs

National Program

The courses we offer our students at Prep, 9th-12th grades are in accordance with the Ministry of National Education and aim to prepare our students not just for college but also for life. Our focus is not only the academic success of our students but also to expose and develop their talents in painting, sculpture, dancing, music and acting. We provide them with the appropriate environment and elective courses to encourage them. Some of these courses include “Pattern Study,” “Two Dimension Art Workshop,” “Graphic Design,” “Musical Hearing, Reading and Writing,”
“Piano,” “Western Music Choir Education,” “Western Music History,” “Sports and Nutrition,” and “Sports Management and Organization.”

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program

IBDP was implemented in our school in the autumn of 1999 providing an International Diploma to students who meet the academic criteria set by TED Ankara College. IB students choose courses related to their university preferences in conjunction with the requirements of the National Curriculum. The general objectives of the IB are as follows:
- To provide students with balanced education;
- To facilitate geographic and cultural mobility;
- To promote international understanding through shared academic experience.
The IB Program strives to promote the highest standard of education that positively impacts the students’ approach to further education and life. Students meeting the requirements of the program are given many opportunities to develop a kind of creativity and skill that will aid their academic performance in university and future life.

In addition to the knowledge and skills gained from this program, students with an IB diploma are being admitted to outstanding national and international universities. Between 2002 and 2014, 941 TED Ankara College students entered the IB Diploma
Exams and 811 of them were awarded with the diploma. The average success of our students in the IB Diploma exams is 86%, and they have been attending prestigious universities in Turkey and abroad with an average success of 91% since then. IB graduates prefer faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Law, Economics, and Administrative Sciences.

Academic Science Programme (BİY)

Springing from our principle of regarding innovation and variety as the rule of thumb, since the 2007-2008 academic year, we have been offering the Academic Science Program. This program is special to our school and started with the approval of the Board of Education of the Ministry of Education. The aim of this program is to have students become individuals who are always in pursuit of questioning, researching and being productive. This program is based on the idea of having academically high profile students to do research, practice and prioritize productivity for their future careers. The program aims to educate young people who question, think critically and research. Every single student in this program must prepare a project in Science, Math, Turkish Literature or Social Sciences. These projects have to be qualified enough to be sent to TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Project Contest. Meanwhile, students are trained for the TÜBİTAK Science Olympics on topics they choose during their sophomore and junior years. Between 2011 and 2014, 120 TED Ankara College students graduated from this program. These students enrolled in prestigious universities in Turkey with a 100% rate of success. The majority of BİY graduates prefer faculties of Engineering and Medicine.
